The ground is painted first — a fig and terracotta wash, mixed fresh each morning, so no two cards carry quite the same edge. Once it is dry the card goes onto the press and takes a deep impression you can read with your thumb. Deckled on the long edge, blank inside.

Keep dry and out of direct sun — the watercolor will shift over years in a bright window. The impression will not.
